Johnny Bedford

Co-owner / Coach

Brief info

My name is Johnny Bedford, and I am one of the owners, and Head Instructor here at Fitness Fight Factory.

I grew up in a small town in Northwest Ohio, where wrestling was a major part of my childhood. I started wrestling at 5 years old, and my parents supported me by taking me all over the country every week for wrestling tournaments. I wrestled in college for Cleveland State University.

After my wrestling career ended, I still had the urge to compete. In 2003 I had my first amateur MMA fight. After two years of fighting as an amateurm, I turned Pro in 2005.

In March of 2007 I moved to Texas to run a franchise gym. This gym was an opportunity for me to train for my own career full time, while working in the industry. This is where I quickly realized that coaching was my true passion. In January of 2010, we took a leap of faith and opened our own gym, Fitness Fight Factory. That was one of the proudest days of my life. The next year, in 2011, I was selected to be a member of The Ultimate Fighter Season 14. Being on the reality TV show was a huge breakthrough for my career. After the show was finished, and with me winning the Finale, I was given a contract with the UFC.

I fought for the UFC for a little over 3 years. I was extremely lucky to be able to travel and see the world while fighting for the UFC. One of my fights was in Abu Dhabi, and another was in Brazilia, Brazil. After leaving the UFC, I was then contracted to fight for Bare Knuckle Fighting Championships. After BKFC 1, the promotion made an 8 man tournament to award the first ever Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship Lightweight Title. After winning all 3 fights in the tournament, I became the inaugural Lightweight BKFC Champion.

Outside of coaching and training, I stay busy at home with my amazing family. I have 2 kids, my son Jayden is 14, and my daughter Delilah is 8. I have recently gotten engaged, and will be marrying my fiance, Jennifer later this year. Through this relationship, I have another 9 year old daughter, Avery. Our family stays busy, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

These past 11 years as owner and coach here at Fitness Fight Factory has been more rewarding than I could ever imagine. I have seen 100’s of people’s lives change for the better. We have had members lose 100 pounds, kids gain confidence they never knew they had, and women learn to protect and empower themselves. Coaching is truly my passion, and as a coach I want my students to reach their full potential.

Clients Say

positive review  We love Fitness Fight Factory! The Coaches and staff welcomed my girl with huge open hearts and enthusiasm. She is in the kickboxing class and they got her comfortable with things right off. She has never felt out of place or left behind. She actually wishes the boys in class would hit her harder. And they are starting to take her seriously and do it! She looks forward to class each time and we hope she really takes to this sport and enjoys it for a while. (But kids change their minds often so we will see.) Update: Aug. 2018 I now have THREE girls loving the F3 gym! Over the past year my oldest switched gears from focusing on kickboxing to being drawn more to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and was successfully competing. And then she caught an interest in Boxing and has been giving that a go. So yes, she’s changed her mind but she hasn’t changed gyms or her interest in MMA in general. Being at the gym for my oldest encouraged my middle girl (5yrs) to jump in and try BJJ which she really enjoys. She loves the coaches! And we appreciate them all more than a they will ever know! My middle girl especially enjoys the youth MMA class even though our own school year routine doesn’t allow for us to get to the gym in time for it but she obsessively attended over the summer! And being at the gym so much for the big two and seeing all the fun (& hard work) of all the kids made being near the mats too irresistible for my nearly 3-yr old who now often sneaks out to do warm-ups with the class and is incredibly eager for her own toddler group! F3 is seriously a family oriented gym that pushes hard and has a lot of fun!
